Publication

Jul 2001

The publication examines the widespread availability of light weapons and small arms in Southeast Asia and compares domestic arms control laws in the region. The report places emphasis of the role of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in the the context of small arms regulation. It concludes that ASEAN’s response has been dominated by national security interests and omits the interplay of drug trafficking, human trafficking, the illegal arms market and increased societal violence.
