This paper examines military innovation in the maritime realm and how it could impact the subsurface operational autonomy of future navies. According to the text's authors, true undersea autonomy is far from inevitable, specifically because military establishments have yet to translate technological advances into operational advantages. For that to happen, different communities will have to harmonize their efforts more closely.
