This publication addresses Japan's involvement in the global fight against terrorism and the war in Iraq. The authors argue that these involvements represent a stark departure from the Yoshida Doctrine, a potential phase change in the Japanese-American alliance and its global posture. The authors outline lessons learned which, according to them, are likely to animate Japan's foreign policy in the coming years.
