This brief argues that with the pivotal change of leadership in Washington, the US and the EU are presented with an ideal moment to strengthen the US-EU institutional bond. According to the authors, a rejuvenation of trans-Atlantic relations is a must in the current international climate, but any progress must be built on the basis of a more coordinated EU foreign policy and a restructured US-EU relationship.
