This issue of the Russian Analytical Digest examines political and economic challenges to Russia's regions. Specifically, it considers the role of oblast governors in the regional elections and discusses the financial and management issues that the Rostov oblast faces during the global economic crisis. Further, it analyzes the Marii El presidential administration in the context power of regional government. Additionally, this issue presents a statistical overview on Russia's regions.
