This briefing looks at 1) the “line of separation” between the breakaway Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts and the rest of Ukraine, and 2) the status of the ceasefire negotiated at the February 2015 Minsk talks. In the first case, the text’s authors focus on the intermingling of civilians and military personnel on the Ukrainian frontlines, the humanitarian crisis that has resulted, and what must be done to alleviate the physical and psychiatric distress being experienced in front line villages.
