This brief examines Nigeria’s struggle with food insecurity, which it links to plummeting food production, internal displacement, and the destruction of economic infrastructure. These pathologies, in turn, are attributable to the ongoing insurgency by Boko Haram and the Nigerian military’s forceful response. Despite all these problems, the text nevertheless calls on the Nigerian government to demonstrate a greater commitment to relief and food-security efforts.
