This issue of the CTC Sentinel traces the evolution of global terrorism since 9/11. It includes 1) an extensive interview with CIA Director John Brennan on the threats and counterterrorism challenges currently facing the United States; 2) an analysis of the progress that has been made in the “war on terrorism”; 3) an examination of how the war in Syria has transformed Al-Qaeda; 4) a study of how the latter group has bounced back in Afghanistan; and 5) a look at the decline of the so-called Islamic State from a political economy standpoint.
