This publication argues that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is becoming increasingly prominent in China’s strategic calculus and its One Belt, One Road (OBOR) strategy. The text's author specifically describes 1) the role Dubai now plays as an important financial and trade hub for Beijing; 2) Abu Dhabi's growing role as an oil supplier for China; and 3) the budding alignment of the UAE with Egypt and China on security issues, primarily because of their mutual concerns about Salafi jihadism.
