This issue of the RAD examines the recently completed State Duma elections in Russia. The first article looks at the factors that led to the dominant performance by the United Russia Party at the polls, as well as the long-term challenges it faces in ensuring elite cohesion and future social support. The second piece then investigates voting irregularities in Saratov Oblast, where a quarter of all precincts reported the exact same results for the four major parties in the area. Finally, the issue includes a statement by Golos, the Russian elections monitoring group, on the conduct of the election, and a collection of opinion poll and election results data.
