ETH Workshop: NATO and European Security after 2014

In the run-up to the Warsaw NATO summit scheduled for 8-9 July, 2016, on January 22, 2106, the CSS held a an ETH Workshop entitled ‘NATO and European Security after 2014’. Faced with a more assertive Russia in the East and the so-called ‘Islamic State’ in the South, the Atlantic Alliance needs to adjust to a new strategic environment. At the conference, that was attended by national and international defense and security policy experts, participants discussed, inter alia, NATO’s political and military planning, Russia’s military intentions and capabilities, NATO and the Baltic Scenario, requirements for extended nuclear deterrence, as well as political and military implications regarding the threats from the South.
