The Center for Security Studies (CSS) at ETH Zurich is an academic institute specialized in research, teaching, and the provision of services in international and national security policy. The CSS is headed by Prof. Dr. Andreas Wenger. Since 1997, the CSS and the professorships for political science of the University of Zurich have been working together to build the Center for Comparative and International Studies (CIS).
The research activities of the CSS focus on topics related to international security. Our projects are based on a comprehensive perception of security; besides the military dimension of the term, research at the CSS also considers political, economic, socio-cultural, and ecological factors. >>
The didactic focus of the CSS is on Swiss, US, Russian, and European foreign and security policy. It deals with contemporary history and current questions of political sciences. Furthermore, the CSS is involved in the education of prospective professional military officers of the Swiss armed forces. >>
The CSS has developed and maintains several online information services, including the International Relations and Security Network (ISN), the world's leading online platform about international relations and security policy. >>
The CSS publishes several publication series on issues related to international and Swiss security policy. >>
