Alrik Thiem is a PhD candidate at the Center for Security Studies (CSS) and an assistant at the Chair for Political Methodology at the University of Zurich. He has studied Political Science, Economics and Business Administration in Goettingen, Bath, and Zurich. Various internships in the private sector (renewable energies), politics (German Parliament, Federal Chancellor Willy Brandt Foundation) and research (Center for European Economic Research) have complemented his studies. Alrik Thiem earned his Bachelor's degree with a thesis on the influence of the European Union in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and a Master's degree with a thesis on economic cooperation between EU member states in the field of defense. He also holds a scholarship of the Swiss Study Foundation. His research interests include foreign, security and defense policy, and political methodology.
