Michel Hess is head of studies and training of ETH Zurich's executive Master of Advanced Studies in Security Policy and Crisis Management (MAS ETH SPCM). He also lectures at the Sino-Swiss Management Program and the George C. Marshall Center. Michel Hess is an advisor to the Council on Defense and Security of the Republic of Georgia and to the Risk Management Journal. He is a member of the PfP Consortium Counterterrorism Working Group.

Michel Hess holds a Bachelor (Hons) from The Florida State University, three Master's degrees from the Universities of Virginia, Delaware, Geneva and a Doctorate in Political Science. He has conducted security, intelligence and law enforcement training and capacity-building for over two decades in 50 countries for over 2,000 professionals. He has worked in support of all echelons of security sector services in Eurasia and in the Middle East. His experience includes positions as a senior civil servant, management board member, academic director, research fellow, and senior advisor in civilian, military and corporate environments.
