Marco Wyss is a senior researcher at the Center for Security Studies (CSS). He earned his Doctorate at the Universities of Neuchâtel (History) and Nottingham (Politics and International Relations) with a thesis on Anglo-Swiss relations during the Cold War, in which he assesses the role of arms transfers, neutrality and Britain. Marco Wyss holds a Master's degree in History and Philosophy from the University of Neuchâtel, and a Master's degree in International History and Politics from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Geneva. Prior to joining the CSS, he was an assistant in History at the University of Neuchâtel, a visiting fellow at the London School of Economics' IDEAS Centre, and a visiting scholar at the Institute for European, Russian and Eurasian Studies at the George Washington University's Elliott School of International Affairs. He is also Secretary General of the Bibliographical Committee of the International Commission of Military History and the Scientific Editor of the International Bibliography of Military History.

 

His fields of expertise include neutrality, arms transfers, Swiss foreign and security policies, British foreign and security policies, the transformation of European armed forces, international history, the Second World War, the Cold War, and strategy. He is currently broadening his expertise by studying France's African strategy and peacekeeping in Africa.
