Peace Mediation Course 2009, 13–20 March 2009 and 13–20 June 2009, Oberhofen

The Peace Mediation Course is an annual course organized by the Mediation Support Project (CSS and swisspeace, Berne) and the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA). The course of 2009 attracted a great number of high-level participants from the Swiss FDFA, Foreign Ministries, UN departments, NGOs, and experts working in the field.

The course allows participants to deepen their understanding of peace mediation and acquire the skills, knowledge, and attitudes to support mediation processes effectively. The course also aims to create a network of mediators and experts involved in peace processes. A comprehensive approach to mediation and facilitation is the basis of the course. Such an approach takes into account the different phases, relevant actors, and topics of peace negotiations.
