Stefan Soesanto ist Senior Researcher am Center for Security Studies (CSS) der ETH Zürich. Er leitet das Cyberdefense Project und ist Co-Teamleiter des Risk and Resilience Teams.

Bevor er zum CSS kam, war er Cybersecurity & Defense Fellow beim European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) und ein non-resident James A. Kelly Fellow beim Pacific Forum CSIS. Beim ECFR entwarf und veranstaltete er in Zusammenarbeit mit Microsoft Cyber-Wargame-Übungen und organisierte zusammen mit dem Center for War Studies an der Universität Süddänemark und dem Büro des dänischen Botschafters für Technologie eine geschlossene Cybersecurity- und Verteidigungskonferenz in Odense.

Stefan arbeitete auch als Forschungsassistent im Brüsseler Büro von RAND und war Mitautor von Berichten für den Ausschuss für bürgerliche Freiheiten, Justiz und Inneres des Europäischen Parlaments (LIBE), die Europäische Agentur für Netz- und Informationssicherheit (ENISA) und das niederländische Ministerium für Sicherheit und Justiz.

Stefan hat einen MA der Yonsei-Universität (Südkorea) mit den Schwerpunkten Sicherheitspolitik und internationales Recht und einen BA der Ruhr-Universität Bochum (Deutschland) in Politikwissenschaft und Japanisch.
