This brief reviews insurgent activities in South Sudan between 2012 and the renewed outbreak of violence in late-2013. In particular, it identifies the different groups involved in insurgent activities, their relative strengths and goals, their achievements, and how they reacted to President Kiir's offer of amnesty in April 2013. Interestingly enough, the insurgent tide receded during the period under analysis here, but the necessary integration of forces didn't occur.
