This issue brief examines insecurity and militarization in the Nuba Mountains and surrounding areas, a region that has been overshadowed by the Darfur conflict and the insecurity in Abyei. It forecasts that ethnic tensions in the region have the potential to escalate significantly over the coming months and need urgent attention to prevent them from spiraling out of control.
