This article examines the international framework of controls on weapons of mass destruction (WMD) proliferation financing. More specifically, the piece identifies areas that require further work to fill current gaps in the framework and to safeguard the international community against future WMD proliferation threats. The author also contends that the stakeholders that need to be involved in the creation of an adequate response to proliferation threats should include the UN Security Council, the Financial Action Task Force, the Egmont Group (an informal network of Financial Intelligence Units), multilateral export control regimes and national authorities.
