This publication reflects on how emerging innovations in cyberspace could impact cybersecurity by introducing three possible future scenarios. The scenarios postulate what would happen if 1) new players entered the digital battlespace and the tempo for counter-cyber operations increased drastically; 2) states or industry drove the development of artificial intelligence (AI), and the internet became increasingly fragmented, and 3) public access to global internet content were fractured and social media expanded as a means of political influence.
