This publication examines the policies of the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary towards Ukraine. One key insight it highlights is that while the three states still give relations with Russia a greater priority than those with Ukraine, the conflict in Eastern Ukraine has led each to reassess their relations with Kyiv. For example, the text’s authors contend that following the conflict, Bratislava, Prague and Budapest have 1) revived their diplomatic contacts with Ukraine; 2) increased commitments to development support for the country; and 3) begun to lobby more actively for EU support for Kyiv.
