This report introduces transatlantic regulatory cooperation (TRC) as the defining concept for US-EU economic relations in 2008. The author offers policy implications of regional cooperation between the US and Europe. The report begins with US-EU regulatory barriers and presents the rationale for transatlantic regulatory cooperation. The author highlights differences in terms of regulatory approaches by the EU and the US, discusses forms of transatlantic regulatory cooperation, and highlights the results of pre 2008 initiatives.
