This report examines US-Pakistan relations in the context of the latter's democratization and the US-led war on terror. The author explores US concerns regarding Pakistan, which include regional and global terrorism, Afghan stability and democratization. The report discusses concerns over human rights protection, the protracted Kashmir conflict, Pakistan-India tensions and economic development. The author argues that a stable, democratic and economically prosperous Pakistan actively working to counter Islamist militancy is vital to US interests.
