This report explores the 2008 terrorist attack in India and its possible connections to elements inside Pakistan. The author states that the 2008 Mumbai attack brought international attention to the deadly and destabilizing incidence of Islamist extremism in South Asia, affecting the course of US policy toward Pakistan. The attack has major domestic implications for India, politically and in terms of national security. The report explores the expansion of US bilateral cooperation and assistance to India in combating terror and addressing national security threats.
