This report explores US-Thai relations in light of the political and economic instability following the 2006 government coup. The report summarizes political developments since 2006, and explores how Thai political events have impacted on Bangkok’s reliability and attractiveness as a partner in economic and security cooperation. The report concludes by discussing the importance of US-Thai strategic and economic relations for the US in the Southeast Asian region.
