This paper explores the impact of globalization - in terms of diasporas, transnational linkages and communications technology - upon insurgency. With a focus on the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and the Maoists of Nepal, the author examines the similarities and differences in the influence globalization has exerted upon the evolution of these conflicts. The paper also highlights a positive aspect of globalization in the transformation of insurgency goals.
