This brief analyzes post-conflict reconstruction efforts in Lebanon following the 2006 war between Hizbollah and Israel, in order to provide insights into the challenges involved in reconstruction in Gaza. It provides seven 'lessons learned' from the situation in Lebanon. These range from arguing that border management is necessary, but not sufficient, to highlighting that parallel reconstruction efforts can reduce effectiveness. The author concludes that a mechanistic, 'one size fits all' solution should be avoided in post-conflict reconstruction in Gaza.
