This report describes the challenges to ending poverty in Haiti, a country suffering from large economic inequalities and serious social divisions. The author describes one successful national initiative that creates jobs to rehabilitate the country’s natural and man-made environment and provides employment for Haiti’s youth. He concludes that Haiti’s road toward ending poverty will require vision combined with appropriate and sustained action and the balanced cooperation of both Haitian and international actors.
