This brief presents the views of high-level Iraqi politicians, taken from a series of meetings held in Baghdad in May 2009 covering provincial and national elections, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Maliki and the Iraqi political landscape. Various political parties are discussed, as are tensions between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Iraqi government. The publication also examines the provincial council of Diyala and threats to Iraqi national security.
