This report looks at US foreign policy in Central Asia. The policy, it claims, has emphasized maximizing assistance in US and NATO stabilization efforts in Afghanistan and in helping the states combat terrorism, proliferation, and arms and drug trafficking. Other US objectives have included promoting free markets, democratization, human rights, energy development, and the forging of east-west and Central Asia-South Asia trade links.
