The author provides a detailed overview of the political structure, reform initiatives and human rights issues in Bahrain before and after the 2011 uprisings, and then outlines how Bahrain’s domestic unrest and economic decline have impacted on the country's foreign and security relations with the US and other Persian Gulf monarchies.
