This paper examines Turkey's and the EU's growing interest in the South Caucasus. The author argues that Turkey has become an important partner for the EU through its attempts to play a more active role in the South Caucasus despite many constraints. While a number of problems remain, he contends, Turkey and the EU can work together toward reaching the shared goal of creating an area of security in the South Caucasus, an outcome instrumental to the development of economic projects - with a special emphasis on energy issues.
