This report provides information on the Kyoto Protocol, a UN treaty with the target of reducing greenhouse gases through measures such as emissions trading. The author outlines the major provisions of the Kyoto Protocol, the results of a number of conferences to discuss issues unresolved in Kyoto, and the policy of the US government, which rejected the protocol in March 2001.
