This paper addresses the impact of the global financial crisis on migration in Australia. The author seeks to identify the challenges associated with such changes and discusses how national policy should most appropriately respond. The author argues that Australia should respond by prioritizing migration issues in its overall response to the financial crisis, by ensuring that migrant admissions are based on sound economic evidence and maintaining a consistent migration policy.
