This briefing paper presents the outcomes of a panel discussion on Syria's alliance with Iran. The paper examines the history of the alliance, bilateral interests underlying the alliance and its future prospects. The paper warns that attempts to drive a 'wedge' between Syria and Iran are unlikely to succeed in the short term, even if Syria and Iran start negotiating with the West.
