This paper examines the main issues with regard to unconstitutional changes of government in Africa and the challenges it poses to the African Union. The author also suggests certain measures susceptible to at least minimize the risk of military coups d’état and other forms of unconstitutional changes of government on the continent, including what may be considered as coups carried out by sitting leader.
