This paper discusses and identifies the processes and factors that underlie Somalia’s highly complicated and protracted conflict. The author presents the dynamics and nature of the conflict and identifies the ways in which they impact upon initiatives for peacemaking and peacekeeping in Somalia. He also analyzes how international, continental and regional organizations have an impact on the resolution of this conflict.
