This paper furnishes an economic analysis of Bangladesh's foreign exchange reserves. It points out that Bangladesh’s forex reserves build-up is the result of an 'investment drought' in the country. The paper addresses the impact of trade with the US on Bangladesh's reserves, and outlines two options to curtail the accumulation of foreign capital and stimulate investment.
