This book looks at how disarmament efforts can translate into humanitarian action. Chapters explore how empirical research into human security threats can advance multilateral disarmament and arms control negotiations, dynamics between civil society and governments in disarmament negotiations, and the efficacy of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines' (ICBL). Chapters also discuss the use of gender analysis in multilateral disarmament negations and assess the bona fides of the Geneva Forum as an example of "disarmament as humanitarian action."
