This book details the proceedings of the 2006 UN Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) conference on space security. Contributions discuss technological threats to space security, the role of non-state actors in space, and the link between the weaponization of space and nuclear proliferation. Contributions further explore the establishment of rules-based behavior and confidence-building measures to help space-faring nations avoid conflict in space, the utility of verification models in space treaty negotiations, and European efforts to achieve space situational awareness.
