This report looks at the destabilizing effects of small arms and light weapons (SALW) in Pacific island countries. It finds that there is critical and timely work to be done to improve national and subregional capacities to implement the UN Programme of Action to Combat, Eradicate and Prevent the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All Its Aspects (PoA). The report presents a number of entry points for SALW action and international assistance to help advance implementation of the PoA and to address SALW more broadly.
