This publication analyzes the main literature dealing with the influence that EU policies related to education may exert on the social inclusion of vulnerable groups at national arena level. First, the authors address the level of policy convergence that the EU has achieved so far in the areas of education and social inclusion, and then offer a general overview of the primary sources related to the social inclusion of vulnerable groups in compulsory education structures. They also present the most relevant EU policy measures and provide a concise analysis of their objective and scope.
