This publication assesses the food situation in Russia. It is an examination of the background, concept and reality, as well as the wider national and international implications. The author argues that the production of Russia’s daily bread is much more than simply an economic or a production issue: Given the country’s history, as well as its political and economic development and its own internal security environment, successive regimes in power in the Kremlin have known for centuries that if there’s one thing that will stir the masses from their slumber, it is not getting their "daily bread."
