Publication

The paper provides a brief overview of the various peace processes that have been taken up during the two decades of Sudan's civil war, culminating in the success of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development(IGAD) Initiative. It serves to identify key issues that have been considered by peace-makers, the problems encountered, and the critical components of the IGAD. It suggests issues to be confronted and illustrates the diverging and conflicting interests of individuals, organizations and governments that have taken up peace-making in Sudan and highlights the need to resolve conflicting interests during the post- conflict transitional period.
