This paper examines the ramifications of president Charles Taylor's departure from Liberia in 2003 and its prospects for peace in Liberia. It reviews the political crisis in the country, the arrival of rebels and the indictment issued against Taylor by the United Nations Special Court in Sierra Leone. The author highlights the surprising element of Taylor's decline of power and exile into Nigeria, with a focus on its implications for stability and peace.
