Although much has been written about the recent political struggles in Northern Ireland, too often it has been the women's experiences which have been left out. As a consequence, there are almost no records about the impact of female collective action on the peace process in Northern Ireland. Therefore, the purpose of this dissertation is, on the one hand, to tell the story of how women became visible in Northern Irish politics and, on the other hand, how they contributed to the transformation of the conflict.
