This paper analyzes the effectiveness of US and international sanctions against Iran, by providing examples of companies and countries that conduct business with Iran, based on open source reporting. The author says that US sanctions on Iran harmed the country's economy to the point where its leaders accepted an interim agreement to halt the expansion of its nuclear program for modest sanctions relief. He also looks at the debate in Congress on the easing of sanctions as well as potential US and international sanctions that could be placed on Iran in the future if it continues its nuclear program.
