This report identifies types of violence against women (VAW) and the direct and indirect consequences of these acts of violence. It provides examples of completed and ongoing US government programs that work to reduce or eliminate international violence against women. The report also outlines possible policy considerations for the 112th Congress, including the scope and effectiveness of current US programs, further integrating VAW prevention and treatment into US foreign assistance programs, coordinating among US executive branch agencies and departments, and US funding of international anti-VAW programs.
