This paper provides an econometric analysis of market demand growth for steel in India using aggregate sectoral demand patterns. One of the characteristics of growth in emerging economies is the sharp growth in steel consumption resulting from public investment outlays in infrastructure, coupled with outlays in construction as the economy expands
